Video and telephone consultations
A telephone or video consultation with one of our GPs, for medical advice or for follow-up after a visit. Appointments are subject to availability, clinical suitability and your location.
When a remote consultation is suitable
Remote appointments suit a problem that does not need examining, discussing results, reviewing medicines, and picking up where a visit left off. The doctor agrees with you which kind of appointment suits what you need.
When you need to be seen in person
The standards a doctor works to are the same remotely as they are face to face. Where an examination is needed, where there is not enough information to assess you safely, or where prescribing would not be safe without seeing you, the doctor will arrange a home or hotel visit or a clinic appointment instead. The GMC guidance on remote consultations sets out those limits.
Prescriptions, tests and referrals
A prescription can follow a remote consultation where it is safe to prescribe on the information available. Some medicines need an in-person assessment first, and controlled medicines are prescribed only following an in-person consultation. Tests and referrals are arranged where clinically indicated. Before and after a stay in London
Records can be shared with us before you arrive so that the doctor is prepared, and appointments can be arranged in advance. When you leave, you receive a written handover for your own doctor. After you have left the UK we can discuss results and answer questions remotely, but we cannot prescribe for you or manage your care abroad.
Who it is for
No registration is needed for a one-off appointment, and overseas visitors are welcome. A private consultation does not replace being registered with a GP where you live.
Fees
Telephone or video consultation: £200. Medication, laboratory and referral charges are separate and quoted before you commit. View all fees.
