Private doctor home and hotel visits in London

A GMC-registered GP comes to your hotel room or your home in Zone 1, central London, takes a history, examines you and treats what can be treated there. Where more is needed, the doctor arranges it.

When a visit is the right appointment

Most people who ask for a visit have become unwell away from home and would rather be seen where they are. Chest and throat infections, gastroenteritis, urinary infections, skin complaints, minor injuries and jet lag are all common reasons. So is medication that has run out or been left behind.

A visit also helps when travelling to a clinic is the obstacle rather than the illness, for example when you are too unwell to sit in a waiting room, when you are recovering at home, or when the day cannot accommodate an appointment elsewhere.

Urgent symptoms and emergency care

This is not an emergency service. As the NHS guidance on when to call 999 sets out, 999 is for life-threatening emergencies, and NHS 111 can check your symptoms and tell you what to do if you are not sure which service you need.

A visit is not the right route for stroke symptoms, severe breathlessness, heavy bleeding, major injury or anyone who is deteriorating quickly. Those need emergency care, and we will say so if you call us first.

If your condition changes while you are waiting for a doctor and the change is not an emergency, call the team so the doctor can reassess how urgent your appointment is.

What the doctor can do at your address

The doctor takes a full history, examines you, checks your observations and can carry out urine testing and selected point-of-care tests while there. Blood samples and swabs can be taken at the same appointment and couriered to a laboratory.

Treatment can begin at the appointment. Injections and wound care can be given where clinically appropriate, and a private prescription can be issued and dispensed by Omniya’s own pharmacy for delivery to your hotel. IV therapy can also be given after assessment, where it is clinically appropriate; it needs a longer appointment, because checks are carried out before and afterwards and the infusion itself takes time.

Some things cannot be done at your address. Imaging, endoscopy and procedures that need sterile conditions are arranged by referral where they are clinically indicated, and the doctor will tell you what that involves before anything is booked.

Before the doctor arrives

Every enquiry is reviewed by a clinician, so that a visit is confirmed as the right option and its urgency judged. The appointment time is agreed with you when the visit is arranged.

It helps to have a few things to hand when you speak to us:

  • your current medicines, with the packaging or a photograph of it
  • any allergies
  • relevant medical history
  • recent letters or test results, if you have them

What the visit fee covers

Home and hotel consultation fees
Doctor’s visit Monday to Friday, 08:00–20:00 · up to 1 hour £450
Doctor’s visit, out of hours Evenings & weekends · up to 1 hour £550
Additional 30 minutes Where the visit runs beyond the first hour £175

The fee covers up to an hour with the doctor, including the consultation, the examination and any private prescription issued at that appointment. The additional-time fee applies only if the visit runs beyond the first hour.

Charged separately, and quoted before anything is arranged: medication and its delivery, laboratory fees, infusion charges, imaging, specialist fees, and documents such as a fit note or a fitness-to-fly letter where it is clinically appropriate to provide them. Everything is itemised on your invoice. View all fees.

Results, summary and follow-up

The doctor who requested your tests reviews the results and explains them to you, usually by telephone or video. Wherever possible that is the doctor who saw you; if they are unavailable, a colleague with access to your notes continues your care.

Every visit comes with a written consultation summary, which lists medicines by their generic names so that it reads clearly to a doctor in any country. It is yours to keep and to pass to your own doctor.

Where onward care is needed you receive a referral letter, and we can book the appointment with a specialist or imaging service and follow up on the outcome for you. We will not promise timings that depend on other providers. Follow-up with us is available by video or telephone consultation or at a clinic appointment.

Who can be seen

Overseas visitors are welcome, and no registration is needed. Visits are charged as you go, and there is no membership that covers them; clinic appointments are the other way to be seen. Whether a visit is suitable for the person who needs to be seen is confirmed with you when you make the enquiry.

Chaperones, interpreters and access

A chaperone can be arranged on request, and you are welcome to have a companion with you. Please mention any mobility, hearing or other access needs when you call. A professional interpreter can be arranged if you would prefer to consult in another language, which for a clinical conversation is preferable to relying on a relative to translate.

If someone else arranges the visit

A hotel desk, an assistant or a family member is welcome to arrange a visit for you. The consultation itself is between you and the doctor, and we confirm your consent with you directly before anything about your care is shared. The hotel is given what it needs to let the doctor reach you, and nothing clinical unless you ask us to share it. Hotel and concierge teams can read more about how that works.

If a visit is not the right option

If the clinical review of your enquiry shows that a visit will not help, we explain why and direct you to the appropriate care, whether that is a clinic appointment, a remote consultation, an urgent care centre or an emergency department. The doctor may also decline or end a consultation where care cannot be given safely in the setting requested.
