Blood tests at home and in hotels
Blood samples can be collected at your home or in your hotel across Zone 1, central London, during a doctor’s visit. Swabs can be taken at the same appointment.
Tests chosen after an assessment
The doctor decides which tests are worth doing after taking your history and examining you, taking account of relevant previous results or reports that you are able to show us. Testing is selected for the clinical question in front of you, and the tests and their cost are agreed with you before anything is sent.
If your own doctor has already asked for specific tests, bring the request or the letter and the doctor will work from it. If what you are looking for is a broad preventive review rather than an answer to a current problem, a longevity consultation is the appointment for that.
When samples can be taken
Where blood tests are clinically indicated, samples can usually be collected during a GP visit, so a separate appointment is not normally needed.
Preparing for the tests
Some tests need preparation, such as timing within the day or not eating beforehand, and some need none at all. Because it depends on which tests are being requested, the doctor explains what applies to yours rather than asking you to follow a general rule. It is worth saying when you last ate when you speak to the team, so that anything time-sensitive can be taken into account.
What happens to your sample
Samples are couriered to a laboratory for processing. The laboratory fees that apply to the tests you have agreed are quoted before anything is sent.
Results and what happens next
The results are reviewed by the doctor who requested your tests and discussed with you, usually by telephone or video. The doctor explains when to expect your results; timing depends on the tests requested.
Imaging or a specialist referral can be arranged where clinically indicated, with a referral letter and, if you would like, the appointment booked for you. The written summary of your visit is yours to keep and to pass to your own doctor.
Fees
Samples are collected during a visit, so the visit fee applies: £450 on weekdays between 08:00 and 20:00, or £550 in the evenings and at weekends, covering up to an hour with the doctor. Laboratory fees for the tests you agree are quoted before you commit and itemised on your invoice. View all fees.
